HUGE 32\" CYLINDER MUSIC BOX SWISS ORGAN MUSIC BOX 12 SONG 19\" CYLINDER 4/REPAIR:
$1000.00

Please do not pay for your item immediately. I must pack and determine the final weight and size of each and every item . I sell antiques and collectibles , all are different and I want your shipping to be correct. I will send an invoice with the exact cost. I use my fedex account and greyhound bus service for large items shipped west of the Mississippi.I am selling this very large Swiss cylinder box today as I have no time to restore it. It is being sold as parts under rules it is not running or complete. I cannot determine the maker but have shown every mark on it.
I have restored these and disc players and have rebuilt Swiss screw machines .
This machine has an organ section which is unusual and not an addition that was popular as it does not contribute to the elegant sound.
So heres the situation
The box plays 12 songs. One I may identify soon
The combs have no broken teeth or leds although there are missing dampers on the upper and lower combs. The leads are not deteriorated as lots are.
The cylinder in in very good condition measuring 19+1/4\" by 2+1/4\" with few lost pins. I didn\'t count but few and the pins are not bent or torn, possibly the best part of the box.
The cylinder gear is missing the carrying pin which looks to have unscrewed and is inside the cylinder.
The cam works fine
The gear is missing 12 teeth I believe.
The governor is intact with all attached gears and parts and in good overall condition.
The bed plate solid. The spring in the crank case has broken most likely at the screwThe organ section
The teeth are all there on the followers , one is short
The bellows are air tight and look in excellent condition
The pins and springs to actuate them are all missing. The bellows when moved and reed depressed with a thin wire play fine although they are not as finely tuned as the cylinder portion.
This is why Im sure it was disconnected. There is no other reason I can see as the drive wheel and connection rod are present to operate the bellows. They just don\'t add to the tone I would say.
The case has a few corners chipped off and the molding if it were is gone around the base. May have sat in a stand.
The middle hinge isn\'t pretty but works and the lid top closes directly into the lower lock.
There are some other parts as shown .
I assembled the cylinder into the bed plate and put the 2 combs back on to listen to the songs.
Turning the cylinder gently by hand the box came to life and there are fabulous runs , major and minors , loud rich full beautiful tone. Some twanging due to the dampers missing. Appears all the brass wedges are intact. Full without the organ portion. Totally unnecessary.
This is a hard box to pass up its spectacular sound and arrangements are second to none.
If Iv not covered anything email me and ask. I know exactly how to do all the restoration , I don\'t have the time. I have a new business re purposing Industrial pieces .
Lastly I cleaned the parts which needed to be decreased to do all Iv explained. The combs are not rusted they are dirty. Pictures as I dis assembled it. The box weighs around 40 pounds. Tons of pictures
Local pick is fine
