L.K.Co. stands for Liberty Knife Company...These were a very popular knife back in the late 40s and 50s...They sold at Dime Stores and attracted buyers ( mostly Teens and younger adults ) who could not afford the rich mans knives like Case, Queen, Kabar , Primble Belknap , Camillus Schrade and others...A good Case in the late 50s was around $12 ...A feller could pick up a Liberty for about 79 cents right off the cardboard rack...And the Liberty would do the same job as a Case and get just as sharp with just as much back spring snap...I\'d love to have one of those cardboards full of new Libertys...Every color under the Rainbow...It would be worth a small fortune...and there is a collector out there somewhere who has one...I\'d bet on it !!! I had older cousins who would rather have their Liberty than their Dads Tree Brand Hawk Bill...I always liked the Black Liberty...but the paint definitely wore off...
