John Deere 210 Garden Tractor 1978 Cast Iron Kohler K241:
$105.00

Have had this about 8 years, total. I gave it to my brother-in-law 5 years ago when he moved out to the country. He moved back to the city and returned it to me. He said he had been having trouble with the belt on the deck recently. Don\'t really know what the problem is. The original plastic steering wheel broke so I adapted something I found to work with it. The battery is dead and won\'t take a charge. It sat outside this winter as I didn\'t have room for it. I drained the fuel, added fresh and it started right up. The fuel line is old and hard and now it won\'t seal, even with a worm-clamp. That will need replaced. The tires aren\'t the best. I think I put tubes in the rears before I gave it away and they held air all winter. We can pump the fronts up to load it.
This is a good old tractor. It\'s only a 38\" deck (I think) so we never really used it to mow when I had it. We had the deck off and used it to pull a hammer-knife mower in the field. I really like the motor more than anything. These big cast iron Kohler\'s are smooth as butter. The starter is louder than the engine. It has a super-low first gear (missing the plate that covers the shifter) and the vari-drive. This is a fast running machine in high gear with the vari-drive pushed all the way. It\'s almost dangerously fast.
Tons of accessories and parts are still available for these. It needs a little work but you could be using this full time with some love.
Let me repeat the bad stuff: Needs a fuel line from the tank--just 1/4\" rubber hose; needs a battery; needs tire attention (I would tube the fronts and never think about it for another 10 years) and something needs looked at with the deck belt. It\'s 40 years old, but for the most part it\'s not too bad.
No shipping. Within reason, I could maybe help by meeting you halfway or something. Ask me first, please. I normally work with people when possible.
Engine side covers are off of it, but they are included.
