OUR KOHLER COURAGE SV590-3218 19 HP engine is compatible to replace HUSTLER 928267 that came with engine SV590-0022 or any of the following engines on the SINGLE CYLINDER KOHLER COURAGE TABLE 1 below with some minor modifications/adaptations as necessary.
It is like universal and Used by Cub Cadet, Sears (Craftsman), Husqvana, MTD and other lawn mower which must have the SINGLE CYLINDER KOHLER COURAGE engine with same crankshaft size as 1\" dia x 3-5/32\" length and other specifications. This engine has same mounting as all KOHLER Single cylinder COURAGE 15-22 HP (SV470, SV471, SV480, SV530, SV540, SV541, SV590, SV591, SV600, SV601, SV610, SV620)
DESCRIPTION:
- OVERHEAD VALVE DESIGN (O.H.V.) design
- 12 volt electric start
- 15 AMP alternator
- CRANKSHAFT SIZE: 1\" diameter x 3-5/32\" length
- Crankshaft has 1/4\" keyway. It is VERTICAL (UP and DOWN | ) crankshaft. Please make sure your engine has the same crankshaft size or call us
- Crankshaft Drilled and tapped 7/16-20
- No gas tank, no muffler
- Has Fuel Pump (Great! This is a plus)

VERY IMPORTANT:
Regardless your engine has a fuel pump or not, you can still use this engine. This engine has fuel pump. You won\'t see it in the picture because it is installed under the shroud (cover). You may find a similar little bit cheaper engine elsewhere, but it may not have fuel pump.
You will need a fuel pump on an engine if your mower requires one. Fuel pump is usually required when the fuel tank is under the seat or by the seat area. If you buy a single cylinder engine without a fuel pump, you may not be able to install a fuel pump on an engine that was designed without a fuel pump.
SINGLE CYLINDER KOHLER COURAGE TABLE 1
This table is for reference purpose only. We believe 99% that the following KOHLER engines in this page have the same crankshaft size as 1\" diameter x 3-5/32\" length as the engine we are selling. We assume that you have measure your engine crankshaft size and are 100% SURE that our listing engine will work for you. This engine has the following similarities as the following engines here.
- Bolt pattern - The mounting hole pattern is the same. You won\'t have to drill new holes.
- The dimmension.
- Muffler configuration mounting is the same (you can re-use your old muffler)
- Although we spent a lot of time to carefully study about your engine, prepare, review, and compose this page to believe that your engine crankshaft size is 1\" diameter x about 3-5/32\" length , it is still your responsibility to measure your engine crankshaft to double check if it is the same.
Minor things that you may have to do when you buy any of this engine to replace your engine including but not limited to: transfer your wire harness from your old engine to the new one if it is not the same (most of these have similar wire harness though), tap/thread the mounting holes (as most of brand new engines did not have the mounting holes threaded/tapped by the manufacturer)..etc. About HP Discrepancy:
If you believe more or less Horse Power (HP) CC or Gross Torque than your current engine will be fine with your mower, you can buy any of the engine in this box. Please choose HP, CC, and Gross Torque accordingly.
It is ok is you have the extra letter \"S\" or \"PS\" in your engine SPEC number.
Example: PS-SV590-3218 is the same as SV590-3218 or SV590S-3218 SV470, SV471, SV480 SV530, SV540, SV541 SV590, SV591 SV600, SV601 SV610, SV620

Vertical (up and down) crankshaft engine has its crankshaft on the bottom and when mounted on an application, the crankshaft must point down to the ground. Vertical crankshaft engines can\'t replace horizontal crankshaft engines most of the time. A vertical crankshaft engine may look similar to a horizontal crankshaft engine (vice versa), but because the ways of the two engines\' set up, one can\'t replace another.

What is a HORIZONTAL crankshaft engine?
A Horizontal (side) crankshaft engine has a crankshaft on its side and when mounted on an application, the crankshaft must point side way. A Horizontal crankshaft engine can\'t replace a vertical crankshaft engine most of the time.
A horizontal crankshaft engine may look similar to a vertical crankshaft engine (vice versa), but because the ways of the two engines\' set up, one can\'t replace another.

Measure the Diameter of a crankshaft
Diameter is the distance of the center of a circle (see picture). It is very important that your new engine crankshaft\'s diameter must be the same as your old engine\'s in order to reuse all the pulleys and electric clutches.
Example 1 (1\" diameter): If your old engine\'s crankshaft diameter is 1\", you have to buy an engine that has a 1\" diameter crankshaft.
Example 2 (1-1/8\" diameter): You have a 1-1/8\" diameter crankshaft engine, but you want to buy a 1\" diameter crankshaft engine. In this case you have to use some 1\" Inside Diameter x 1-1/8\" Outside Diameter sleeves to convert the 1\" diameter to 1-1/8\" diameter. We have these sleeves available.
