Lancaster \"Le Meritoire\" AntiqueWood & Brass 1/2 Plate Camera Outfit c 1884 early model

This is a wonderful example of an early style half plate Lancaster Le Meritoire camera - picture size 6.5 x 4.75 inches.
These early Lancasters were made between 1882 and 1886 and are very hard to find,
The body of the camera attaches to a separate baseboard, either horizontally or vertically and is held rigid by a diagonal strut.
This camera is in really wonderful original condition with only very light signs of use, the wood is clean and undamaged.
The brass fittings have the original lacquer and only light wear, and the original bellows are in excellent condition.
The lens is an early type with rack and pinion focussing, it is unmarked.The glass elements are clear and bright.
The camera is complete with ground glass back and all the original screws and fittings.
It comes with three pristine original dry plate bookform double darkslides in the original rexine pouch, the original lenscap,
and a rexine covered wooden box, also believed to be original. This would be a significant addition to any collection of old cameras.
