Aerial Tuning Unit No.6 - for Larkspur C42 radioThis unit tunes a standard 8\' rod aerial to match the C42 radio over the frequency range 36 to 60MHz. It has a tuning knob on the front panel which is adjusted for maximum on the built-in meter, while the C42 is switched to SEND.
It has an British Army part number of ZA46302.
This unit is in good condition as far as I can tell without testing it. (I may be able to test it in due course and then update the listing). It has some chips to the paintwork, but no rust, since it is made of alloy.

Important update on this ATU
An electrical test of the unit with a C42, showed it is NOT working. So Ifound the right imperial sized allen key to open up this unit. I was quite surprised by what I found - see the photos I have added of the inside of this unit.
There is water damage of some internal parts of this unit. Although this unit is hermetically sealed, it appears the RF input coax socket is loose, and that has allowed water to enter. There is significant corrosion to many of the internal parts, and one of the two inductor screening cans has disintegrated due to electrolytic action.As a result, this unit can only be described as for \"Spares or Repair\" for those wanting a working unit. For those who just want it to look right in a vehicle display (without using it), it will be fine, however.
I did do some checks of some of the parts. The meter is open circuit, and probably beyond repair. The two variable tuning capacitors are fine and are corrosion free, as is the mechanics that connect it to the tuning knob. L3 is the one with the badly corroded screening can, but is still passing current, so may be OK after cleaning. L2 is fine as well. The CV425 diode tests OK, too.
I will include a copy of the pages from the EMER for anyone wishing to attempt a repair. Those who have already offer on this are welcome to withdraw their offers if this item is no longer what they want.
