A note on quality of Obsolete Bank Notes.

Unlike regular US Government notes, bank notes were not printed on the finest of cotton-bond paper or with the best of inks. They were not meant to circulate for a long period of time or circulate throughout the nation. They usually circulated on a local or state level, and probably not more then a few years at best. They were printed on whatever paper was available at the time. On some notes one can see some of the wood or pulp chips in the paper. In some cases, they were printed on earlier notes that were no longer in use. The technology of acid-free paper was not there yet, as seen with some of our national historical documents, and paper was much scarcer than we can today imagine. These notes had to be printed on semi-wet or moist paper, or the ink would not properly adhere. They were very labor intensive, and were printed by hand, one side at a time. They would manually ink the press, place the damp sheet in it, and run the roller over it. The sheet would be hung to dry, and the same process of wetting and printing would be repeated for the reverse. In the case where more than one color was used, the process would have to be repeated for each color. Unpurified water was used in the wetting process, thereby introducing more minerals or impurities to the paper. As a consequence, many of these notes are very difficult to locate without discoloration, color bleeding or what looks like water staining, due to the wetting process. As if that was not enough, they were individually cut with scissors or crude cutting boards, making them very difficult to find with good margins, or the design itself not cut into it. When grading them today, the coloration, bleeding or some stains, do not deduct from the grade, for the great majority have these problems. Margins, alignment and condition of the paper itself are the main grading points. However, when finding some of these notes without many of the usual problems, one should recognize that it is not the norm. That is one of the reasons why I have virtually all of these notes certified. They get sealed in archival holders, minimizing the aging and toning effects by not being exposed to the elements, and it also gives the client reassurance as to its authenticity and grade.

Warning: I have seen some very white and super clean examples, but, upon close examination, they were nothing more than modern reproductions.

1) You have never heard of me.
I have been a life-member of the American Numismatic Association for over 25 years. (member#: 2995). In all these years, not a single complaint has ever been filed against me. I have been in the field of numismatics for over 35 years.

2) You cannot view the item you are buying in person.
I try my best to show clear and enlarged photos of the products I am offering. In the majority of cases, I am told by my clients that the item was better than expected. I encourage my buyers to view my response from previous buyers. In consideration, I offer an unconditional return policy, for any reason at all, unless otherwise stated, such as on bullion items or sold as-is.

3) You are not sure if the item is authentic.
To eliminate the concerns of my clients, I try my best to offer as many certified items as possible. In certain cases, an item is not worth certifying, usually do to its limited value, or it may be an item that certification services do not or cannot certify. To put my clients at ease, I give a lifetime guarantee on authenticity for any uncertified item sold, unless otherwise stated.

4) In the past you have had problems receiving items that did not conform to their description.
As stated previously (and in my return policy), I offer an unconditional return privilege, for any reason at all, unless otherwise stated. However, I must mention that usually, if something looks too good to be true, it most likely is not what it is represented as. One can get a bargain on the internet, but I doubt that one can buy a $100,000 coin for $200, which is something I see more often than I would like to. Therefore, keep in mind that if it is too good to be true, it most likely is, and if it is absolutely too good, it is safe to assume that you will absolutely get taken advantage of.

5) You did not receive the merchandise after you paid for it.
Plain and simple, it is the responsibility of the seller to deliver the items after receiving payment. Upon the client\'s request, the seller should give proof of shipping and in the case of domestic shipping, the seller should supply information on delivery or signature confirmation. If a seller cannot prove that the item was shipped, the seller should mail another item or refund the money, plus shipping cost. Of course, the buyer should allow appropriate time for delivery. With international shipping, there is no delivery or signature confirmation. Therefore, shipping confirmation is all a seller can supply. That is why I require shipping insurance on all international purchases.

6) Item arrived damaged.
It is my responsibility to make sure that an item is properly packaged. Should you receive an item that has been damaged during transport, please take a photo of the package and the item, make notes, and contact me to make arrangements for returning the item. I will refund you the full amount plus any shipping cost you may incur.

7) You usually do not receive the merchandise on time.
Anything I sell I have in inventory. I usually ship the next day, and in many cases, the same day. Should an unforeseen problem arise, I will inform you immediately. I believe that when a collector buys a new coin, it is like a child getting a new toy, eagerly anticipating its arrival (at least that is how I feel). Therefore, I make my best effort to get the item to you as soon as humanly possible.

8) Seller is not polite.
I am a strong believer in treating all clients, big or small, with the utmost respect. Of course, I appreciate the same in return. I feel that much more gets accomplished with civility and communication. I want all my clients to feel special.

9) You buy something inexpensive and you are made to feel unimportant.
Whether you buy something big or small, I pride myself in treating everybody equal. I do not rate you based on the size of the purchase. A satisfied customer is the best endorsement and a friend.

10) You have questions and you have no way of contacting the seller, or the seller does not get back to you in a timely manner.
I try my very best to answer all questions in a timely matter. If no one is available, please leave a number with a detailed message, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
