This stock set was refinished by one of myfriends, the late John Usrey of Dora, Alabama. Some of you may have known him, and even bought parts from him. He was an absolute wizard with wood, and refinished this stock set to near mint. He was so good that he saved all of the original stamps. This is a beautiful set of wood.

It is in near mint condition, and has no cracks, splits, or pins. It does have acouple ofsmall dings that couldn\'t be refurbished, but it would look good ona90 percentplus rifle. The stock has an extremelytight draw to the trigger housing.

The handguards are original, and near mint, withno cracks, repairs, pins,or splits. They are the correct IHC handguards for this vintage stock. The front handguard is mint (note that theblack color flecks on the left side are merely flecks of color, not dings). The rear handguard is near mint, and it has theOverton \"O\" mark.

By the way, this is one of the early Overton stocks that was undersized in the butt area, and the buttplate would not fit flush. IHC and Overton received permission from Ordnance to \"rebuild\" the butt area, and Overton did this by the insertion of up to four cleverly designed scallops. Thus, thescallop repairs on this stock were done by Overton, most likely in the fall of 1953 and into the spring of 1954. (These scalloped stocks abound in the 4.52M to 4.57M IHC serial number ranges, or February 1954 to June of 1954.)

This IHC stock set would be an excellent choice toupgrade your M1 in the serial number ranges of 4.52M through the end of production. This is a solid stock, and looks fantastic!
