Marklin Mini-Club 8168 with Layout in Briefcase:
$175.01

I know almost nothing about model railroads, so will try to describe this without knowing what is important to an enthusiast. Feel free to ask questions if you have an interest. I do know this was given as a gift to a business executive from employees in the 1980\'s. It sort of has 3 parts.

The Marklin Mini-Club 8168 Z-scale train set. This is in the original box. The box and Styrofoam are in excellent condition. There is a Santa Fe engine, a yellow Union Pacific freight car, and a ATSF caboose. There is also an additional car in the box - a Soo Line open top freight. There are 2 sets of 4 each curved track, and 4 straight track pieces. There is a little reflector pin poked into the Styrofoam, a very small piece of plastic (for coupling?) in a plastic bag. Where the controller (which isnow in the brief case)would be held, is a note with information about the briefcase. There are 3 Marklin manuals/brochures, a plastic piece I believe helps fit the cars on the track, and a bit of extra wire. All of the pieces look to be in perfect condition

The Briefcase Layout. It\'sin a black hard-caseSomsonite measuring 18\"x12\"x5\". The case is in perfect condition; the key isincluded. The engine controller is attached to the inner top, with an electric cord running from it, and wires running to the underside of the track and landscape layout, which takes up the entire inner bottom. There is an ovaltrack with a side-rail. There are 3 buildings,a fuel tank, a stream and pond with a little boat, and 3 trees. When I plugged in the cord and set the engine on the track, it was getting power and its light went on, but I wasn\'t able to make it move along the track. It seemed like it wanted to, but I might not have had it set on just right.

The Sound System. There are 2 small speakers which had once been Velcroattached to the upper inside of the briefcaseabove the controller. Cardboard speaker caseshave beenhandmade to cover them and they are wired to attach to a portable Soundesignstereo cassette player The player was also attached by Velcro next to the controller. Inside the cassette player is a tape with train sounds. A headphoneis also included. The recording still played through the speakers when I tried it out.I have removed the batteries but will include them. One of the speaker cardboard covers has come loose. It will be easy to re-glue, and redoing the Velcro attachments would put the whole set back to the way it once was.

I will include all the parts in one UPS shipment. Returns accepted if not as described.
