Militia Cartridge Box, Circa 1820\'s. Holds 24 .65 caliber cartridges in tin tubes. Thishas a short, stocky rounded belly box with a strong curve. The belt loops will take a 2.5\" wide belt. One of the loop\'s upper stitches are broken, but mendable. The box has a flint pocket sewn to the front. The flap has a stamped brass plate of two floral vases on a base, as well as the owner\'s initials engraved, \"D. H.\" The bottom ridge of the leather is stamped with decorativeasterisks or stars. Theknottedleather finialis missing,as well asclosure strap on underside of the flap.

The flap measures approx. 8\" x 4.5\" x 5\", the loops will fit a 2.5\" belt.

In very good condition: the leather is stiff, dry and cracked in several places.
