For your interest is another museum quality item from an \'out-of-the-attic\' collection I just acquired. This is a full length Springfield Armory bayonet from WWI that was reconditioned for WWII. The grip slabs were so pristine at that time that they didn\'t see a need to replace them with the hard rubber grips; they were left intact. The blade retains 100% of the original bluing and the grips are essentially new as well, retaining the serrations on the wood and 100% of the original arsenal applied varnish from World War One. So this item would be at home with a WWI or WWII collection, or both at the same time. The scabbard is definitely early WWII being the early plastic applied over canvas by Detroit Gasket, a very desirable maker from the early war period. Both are essentially new or mint, which ever you prefer. I don\'t think the reserve needs to be a deep dark secret or time waster; it\'s $499.00. This is a museum quality piece for the advanced collector or museum.

I just acquired a collection from an older gentleman in town who had a box of items that his father had brought home from WWII, then kept in his foot locker. They were taken out periodically, handled for a while and then placed back carefully. They exhibit little to no handling evidence. All the pieces were carefully preserved with wax or oil, then wrapped in clothes. The photos taken are sufficient to prove the condition without verbose addition. Please ask questions if need be.
