MINTON MAJOLICA
CHERUB FIGURINE / BASKET VASEThis is a substantial piece of Majolica, made by Minton. It stands approximately 11 ins (28 cm) high and weighs 1.5 kg. It is modelled as a cherub standing aside a basket vase. The cherub has an Ivy garland around it\'s head and down it\'s body, a quiver of arrows at it\'s feet.
It is generally in good condition, but two items to mention viz. the vase looks as if it has a hairline on the inside, although this cannot be seen on the outside, and a small crack at the bottom of the Ivy that twines the vase where it comes to the ground, see photographs. Both appear to be done at firing and not significant in my view. The Ivy crack is glazed over and cannot be felt.
The item has impressed marks Minton, no 405, and date mark for 1865.
