Modified Alesis Nanoverb 2 FX processor - reclocked & circuit bent effects unit:
$287.79

RECYCLING NOISE SINCE 2001

The original Alesis Nanoverb was first produced around 1996, and was one of those units that Alesis used to have a talent for producing that ended up being manufactured for decades with virtually no changes. See the SR16 drum machine and the 3630 compressor for details!
In 2011 Alesis finally updated it, and released this new version, the Nanoverb 2. Its got more or less the same footprint and layout, just with upgraded hardware and effects. For full details take a look at the Nanoverb 2 page on the Alesis site HERE, although please note that for some reason this version of the Nanoverb 2 appears to be slightly different, and unlike the version pictured on the Alesis site it also has a RotarySpeaker and Tremolo effect along with two sets of plate and spring reverb settings, but less variationson Room an Vocal reverbs. I\'m not 100% sure whats going on there, and neither does the internet!

We\'ve added three mods to this thing.

Power switch -Only someone who hasn\'t spent hours reaching around the back of racks, or trying to figure out exactly which feckin\' power supply in the 4 way sockets is the one for the Nanoverb, would underestimate the usefulness of something as simple as a power switch!

Reclocking knob - This is the blue knob on the front panel. It sets the system clock speed of the RAM and the analogue to digital converters. This means it will extend the reverb and delay times to a degree way outside of what would normally be possible. Reverbs can be altered from short metallic ambiances to massive washes of disconnected sound just by turning the knob, and delay times are now extendable to a extreme lofi settings! As the reclocking knob also controls the clock rate of the converters, it also changes the sample rate of the incoming audio. At higher than normal clock settings the audio quality is actually better than the stock machine.
Presumably due to its 52 bit processing, the Nanoverb 2 is still fairly clean even when its clocked down to very low speeds. You don\'t tend to get quite the same aliasing noise and grain that you often hear on similar units when you slow down the processing rate, but you do get a certain amount of background hiss appearing.

Looping waves switch - What this new switch on the left appears to do is to grab whatever audio data happens to be occupying the RAM at that moment and loop it round, but in the maddest way you can imagine. Its as if the Nanoverb 2 stores the sample data in a completely non linear way, and the switch makes it read the memory back from beginning to end, resulting in random chunks of sound vomiting forth in what sounds like bizarre pulsating tribal rhythms. Its especially effective in stereo where you get a wide stereo field surging back and forth. Its impossible to describe........... Just listen to the demo! ;-)

You can hear a demo of this unit in action on our Soundcloud page HERE.

Without the looping switch activated and the reclocking knob set to a normal clock speed, the unit functions at a normal Nanoverb 2

The unit will be shipped with a UK power supply if you have any use for it. Please note, all Alesis power supplies are AC/AC and not AC/DC.
