Mont-Bell Summer Breeze Sleeping Bag

This sleeping bag weighs 2lb-3oz and fits a 5’10” or smallerperson. It is made with synthetic insulation,not down insulation!!! I think it israted for 40 degrees. Mont-Bell nolonger makes this sleeping bag.

I bought it years ago for big wall climbing (like inYosemite Valley). I had a seamstress (whohad worked in Black Diamond’s repair facility) modify it to allow me to be inthe bag and still be tied to the anchor at my waist harness. The tie-in hole is a small slit with a cleverVelcro closure on the inside of the bag to minimize heat loss.

The bag has no zipper to fail on you. This makes it warmer and lighter. It has a drawstring hood to keep the heat inand cold out. The horizontal seams areelasticized to keep the bag tight against your body, which makes the bag much warmer. Two loops at the foot end allow you to hang thebag for drying or to secure it while on a wall climb. Unlike down insulation, the syntheticinsulation will still insulate when wet.

It includes a stuff sack with a stuff size of6”x6”x13”. Note that the Mont-Bell stuffsack label says 6’4”, but the sleeping bag label says 5’10”. Don’t buy this sleeping bag if you are tallerthan 5’10”.

Because of the elastic seams, the bag looks very narrow withoutsomeone in it, so I included a picture with me in it to demonstrate that it fitsmy 5’10’, 180lbs frame.

This sleeping bag has never been slept in. So even though it was made years ago, it isessentially new. The tie-in modificationdoes not prevent you for using the bag for any non-climbing activities.
