MULTI- ELMAC AF-68 and PMR-8 COMPLETE BASE /MOBILE AM CW VINTAGE STATION:
$350.00

Here is something that you will not see too often. A complete Multi- Elmac AM and CW station consisting of AF-68 AM and CW transmitter, PMR-8 receiver covering 80-10 meters (pre-warc band plan) plus broadcast band, companion M1070 power supply switchable between 110 volt AC and 12 V DC (can be modified to work on 6 V DC) all interconnecting cables, a TR relay, and full original instruction manuals for all equipment. All you need to add is a PTT mike and speaker or headphones. The pictured D-104 and phones as well as the power meter are not included) These setups were popular as base and mobile installations in the late 1950s and early 60s but seldom seen today. I recall several of my radio mentors having these things in their cars when I first was involved with ham radio. (there was a lot of room under the dash in those days) Cosmetic condition is pretty good. Everything lights up and works. The picture with the power meter shows 40 watts output on AM which is about what I would expect. Grid drive to final not quite up to spec but doesn\'t seem to make a difference. I have not listened to or checked how the AM sounds, but all appears to be working. The receiver picks up signals on BC band through 20 Meters when checked. Higher bands were not open, but background noise on the other bands indicates it is working. I used this rig on AM for several years before finding and restoring a Viking Valiant that I now use when the mood hits. This setup has been sitting around for several years, I will be moving and am shedding excess gear. I would suggest a thorough cleanup, going through receiver alignment as sensitivity is not the greatest, checking for bad components and tubes and all the usual steps we do with vintage gear to maximize performance. The power supply octal connector needs to be jiggled around a bit to get good contact. This likely needs some contact cleaner or tightening on the female socket innards. The power supply is on old style vibrator type. I have never used this on DC input. Reasonable reserve. Buyer to pay all packing and shipping costs. Each piece will be carefully packed separately to minimize chance of damage. Ignore the shipping estimate as it will not even be close. I will notify buyer of actual cost to your location once it is known and release for shipment when paid. If you want to arrange local pick up that can be arranged. I am close to Gettysburg, PA. In the unlikely event the estimate has you over pay, I will refund any difference. Any questions please ask and I will do my best to answer. Here is a chance to operate a little nostalgic AM and CW with a minimum of work.
