National HRO-500 receiver restored by a well known HRO-500 restorer in the New England area. Ser# 88-4526 I am trying to cut down on all the radios that I have. This is still in the box as received from repair.

Cosmetics are excellent on cabinet and panel. Manual and ER magazine included.

The following are notes of work that was done.

All 24 electrolytics were replaced, a couple of leaky caps and several out of toleranceresistors. Also all transistors tested and several leaky germanium ones were replaced. Factory updates to series 140 added.

Product and AM detector germanium diodes replaced with low distortion Schottky’s.

VFO tracking needed a lot of work as someone had previously messed it up. There is about a 1 Khz difference from cold start to 8 hours later.

Use the dial lock as needed.

The .5 and 2.5 Khz bandpass filters were seriously out of alignment. It took hours with a sweeper to get them back.

Sesisitivity on all bands exceeds factory specs, use the attenuator and RF gain control as needed for overload.

PLEASE NOTE! Bandswitch thoroughly cleanedbut detent knob may have to be wiggled to achieve a lock at some points; it’s a bit worn with age. It may be missing the line cord.
