$3500.00

Videos of this motor running are posted class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"font-size: large;\">

I pulled this motor out of a 1939 Chrysler Imperial in 2004. The engine number is C23-10174. It is a324 cubic inch, eight cylinder engine. Similar Engines eights were used in Chrysler Airflow, Saratoga, New Yorker, and Crown Imperials from 1934 to 1950.

Here is a list of what was done to rebuild this engine:

Degreased head and block

Magna-fluxed head and block to make sure there were no cracks

Resurfaced the head

Ground the crankshaft and new bearings for .030 over rod mains and .020 over main bearings.

Reconditioned all eight connecting rods

Bore-honed and replaced all eight wrist pin bushings

Bored all cylinders to 3.25\" + 0.080\" with .003 additional clearance.

Checked line bore

Replaced cam bushings

Installed 16 new valve guides

Installed 3 new valve seats

Ground 16 valve seats

Installed new water distribution tube

Rebuilt water pump

Rebuilt carburetor

new points, condensor, spark plug wires, spark plugs

All the machine work was done by Precision Machine Inc. (PMI) in Jefferson City, MO. many of the parts were purchased from Terrill Machine in DeLeon, TX. I have been building old car engines since 1988. My Dad has been building them since 1963. We built this together as we have many other classic car engines. PMI is the only machine shop we have used since I have been building engine. They do very good work, and we pride ourselves in building engines that run reliably. If you care to see other classic cars we have built, photos are posted athttp://imageevent.com/shaggy/dad andhttp://imageevent.com/shaggy/trucks . We emphasize engines and mechanical work and not so much paint and body work.

My Dad and I completely rebuilt this engine in September of 2004. No expense was spared to make this build as good as possible. This was intended for a long-term personal project of mine. I stretched the frame of a WWII Dodge WC59, which was a predecessor to the post-war civilian Dodge Power Wagon. The hard part was done; the engine ready to run; bolted to a Dodge truck flywheel housing and 4 speed transmission-then I got married and had kids. It has been sitting in the basement garage of our house since then with a dehumidifier running right next to it all this time to preserve the wonderful new machine work. It has been started only occasionally to show off to friends or to circulate the oil a little.

The videos were taken June 15, 2017. The videos are a little smoky as it burned off theoil I used to fog down the cylinders after I ran it last time. You can also hear the valvetrain a little. I have not adjusted the valves or put thevalve covers on it. I have run it onlyfor very short bursts as I have neverconnected the radiator. I almost didthat yesterday, but then I found myself wanting to keep going and finish thewhole thing.

It can be bolted to any transmission and flywheel housing as a common MOPAR six cylinder. That includes antique tractors like Wards, Superior, and others that used the Chrysler industrial motor. That\'s how I was able to put a Dodge truck flywheel housing on it. It retains the original flywheel.

I will send the flywheel housing with the motor. If your are interested in a hot rod or custom sort of like I was planning, we can work the truck transmission and new clutch components into the deal as well as the truck starter and integral generator and power steering pump. if you\'re restoring a \'39 Chrysler, those parts won\'t be a lot of use to you.

A photo of original parts included includes the original fuel pump, oil filter, throttle linkages, draft tube, valve covers, and some manifold heat shields. I also have the original fan that came on this motor.

It\'s quite expensive to rebuild these engines if you can find a good core. Everything in this engine has been done right. It has been rebuilt and balanced. No corners were cut in making it new again.It\'s ready to run.

I apologize for the odd color paint. It was placed in a WWII military 4x4 Dodge 3/4-ton WC chassis, so that green was close to faded Olive Drab.
Offers are welcome. I\'ll work with potential buyers on getting quotes for shipping, crating and delivering to a LTL common carrier or method of your choice. This engine is also listed for sale locally in Columbia, MO.

Feel free to see my other listings for unusual old junk and car and truck parts.
I have posted a photo of this engine before we disassembled it in 2004 and a photo of the car it came out of. The hood was on the car before we removed the engine
I have included a $300 flat rate for shipping, which I will honor in the continental US. I intend to use Fastenal\'s Third Party Logistic service, which means the pallet will be delivered to your nearest Fastenal store. They will call you when it is ready for you to pick it up in your town-usually 5-13 days after I drop it off. I\'ll work with buyers if you need other shipping options.
I\'ll be glad to answer any other questions. And glad toentertain offers on the motor. It is also advertised locally.
