Listen and See it Being Played...Video Below...
Here for your examination is a gorgeous hand-made violin with a beautifully flamed one piece back.
Made in the late 19thor very early 20th century (circa
1890-1920),it is patternedafter a Stradivarius made by
Jerome Thibouville-Lamy in Miracourt (Paris), France.
Itisabeautiful antique oldhandmade violin, with its beautifully
carved scroll...a hallmarkof the better Parisian,
Mirecourtmakers. This violin has a superb voice...suitable for
an adult withsmaller hands or for a talented young violinist.
It has a stunning sound, rich and mature, resonant
and surprisingly powerful. I\'ve posted a video
of this instrument being played so that you can hear it.

ABOUT THE SOUND SAMPLE:
This is a video clip of the actual violin being sold in this sale
This is an exceptional small violin with an almost operatic voice...
singing and lyrical in the treble end; deep and robust
in the lower end. A beautiful old violin with a mature sound.
It has the power that you\'d expect in a larger instrument.
Its both warm, resonant and powerful; it has that wonderful, round
and mature sound that is what makes antique
French violins so sought after today.
MEASUREMENTS:
~ 3/4 VIOLIN ~
Overall length is 21-7/8\" long.
Body measures 13-1/4\" long.
Lower bout is 7-3/4\" wide;
upper bout is 5-3/4\" wide
I believe this violin belongs in the hands of advanced young violinist
or a serious collector who wants to add a fine, old instrument to
their collection. It has its original varnish...beautiful with
a patina that only father-time can create.
LABELS
It bears an old Stradivarius label that is seen through the
treble side sound hole, as well as a small J.T.L tag on the
bass side. JTL is the well known French violinmaker
Jerome Thibouville-Lamy of Mirecourt, France.
CONDITION REPORT:
There are no sound post cracks. There are no splits or cracks
to the neck or or the peg box, and no open seams. There
is an old restoration... solidly repaired cracks on either side
of the tailpiece and some varnish touch ups. But it is
structurally sound and quite a handsome instrument. Sold
as is. You can tell from the video, that it has a nice sound.
There are the usual signs of wear from years of play...the
normal dings, edge wear, and wear to the varnish...the
type of wear patterns that I personally love to see in
an old violin. This not only adds adds character with
its beautiful century old patina, but validates its age.
It has a new set of dominant strings, new ebony pegs,
and a new ebony chin rest and tailpiece.
Its a beautiful instrument and is completely reconditioned and ready to play.
Included is a heavy duty case and carbon bow.
