Up for sale today is a fine old silver dollar carved spoon from Wrangell, Alaska. This spoon features a stylized formline bird (probably thunderbird) with scrolling elaboration typical of the 19th Century, and incredibly fine diagonal lines in the background of the main figure. The bowl is engraved \"Wrangel\" with three horizontal lines above and below. A truly wonderful old carving, and very delicate fine spoon. It is in untouched original condition, measures just under 4\" long, and weighs 5 grams.
Please see June Hall\'s book \"Alaska Souvenir Spoons & The Early Curio Trade\" for more information and details on this style of Northwest Native art, and page 44 for another fine spoon by this same hand. Offered with a very reasonable Buy it Now price.
