Authentic circa 1917-1918 World War 1 (The Great War) US Army/Military uniform tunic jacket/coat. American Expeditionary Force (AEF), worn on the battlefield by the soldier/doughboy of the 37th Infantry Division or \"Buckeye Division\", Machine Gun Battalion, Company A of either the 134th or 135th. Derived from the Ohio National Guard. Insignia is green, red, and white disc/circle. Combat engagements were Ypres-Lys & Muese-Argonne Offensive or Battle of the Argonne forest. Part of the Hundred days offensive, which brought the end to the war. The largest battle in United States military history. Collar disc on right is US37 (37th Division), on left collar is disc MGA (Machine Gun Battalion, Company A). Large eagle buttons are stamped on back AM. Button Co. Newark, NJ (American Button Company), smaller buttons on pockets and shoulders made by Scovil. Features authentic red chevron insignia patch on left sleeve (\"discharge stripe\" or \"honorable discarge stripe\"). Purpose was to identify veterans of Army after they had been mustered out of service, a recognition of duties performed in service of their country. Inside body has tan color lining (like cotton), sleeve linings are green. 1 inside pocket on upper inner left (see picture). No makers label, seems to have been removed. 4 front pockets with flaps and button closure, 2 shoulder epaulets with button closure. Collar has 2 clasp hook closure with fabric flap to cover area. 5 button front closure. All hardware and discs original. Tunic shows signs of combat use, or natural wear of a soldier. Frayed top of collar, bottom left pocket has wear/fabric opening towards bottom of pockets as if objects were carried there, slight wear of fabric on front as if soldier was laying down on belly, 1 small fabric opening on side of bottom left pockjet, sleeve ends have some fraying/wear, small fabric opening under front right bottom pocket, some areas of fabric shell seem to be lighter compared to others (like at pressure point areas). A few small red spots on inside of collar (unknown if blood), initials A.W. L? marked in ink on inside right (unknown if original). Measures roughly 18.5\" pit to pit, 26\" length front middle, 28\" L back middle, 25\" sleeve, 5.5\" sleeve opening, 6\" shoulder, 2\" collar, 18+\" pit seam to bottom of side. Curved tapered cut on sides. Parts of fabric slighly wrinkled. Sold as is and how found.
