Regardless, it remains a very solid, good looking tunic that will make a great addition to your collection. It goes without saying that the 33rd Infantry Division is one of the most famous and hard fighting American Units of WWI. The Division Suffered a total of 6,864 Casualties including a 6,173 Wounded and 694 Killed in Action. The Division participated in Four Major Campaigns including Le Hamel (Four Companies), Saint Mihiel, Somme and Meuse-Argonne Offensives. DETAILED DESCRIPTION:WWI US 33rd Division M1917 Tunic - VERY GOOD CONDITION - This tunic shows only light signs of age, wear and use. There is NO Soiling, Staining or Fading and the tunic maintains excellent color. Unfortunately, there is a Nickel Sized Moth Hole to the lower Right Skirt. When displayed as worn where the left side covers the right side of the skirt, the hole can be hidden and is not visible. It is easy to display the tunic where the hole cannot be seen, but it is up to you as to how you choose to display it. There are two pencil lead sized moth nips to the right side below the second button from the collar. These two moth nips are Also COVERED when the tunic is buttoned and cannot be seen when displayed as worn. These small holes and the nickel sized hole are the ONLY readily apparent mothing to the actual tunic and overall it displays very well. To the Left Chest, the tunic bears an Original WWI Era Victory Ribbon In Excellent Condition. The tunic maintains all of its original buttons and clips, all of which are in very good condition. The left shoulder the tunic maintains its Original 33rd Division Applied Wool SSI / Patch in Very Good Condition. The patch shows only very minor signs of age and wear and maintains excellent color. The Patch is Missing Approximately 1/3 of its original stitching and needs to be Re-Stitched to look perfect. Please be aware that the patch is missing some of the original thread that holds it on. To the left sleeve is also the Original Bright Red Honorable Discharge Chevron and Single Overseas Service Chevron. Both are in Very Good Condition and remain very firmly stitched to the tunic. To the Right Sleeve the Tunic Maintains its Original Sergeant\'s Chevrons that show minor age and wear as well as some light moth tracking and a pencil eraser sized moth hole. NONE of the mothing goes all the way through the wool and is only to the felt portion of the chevron. The \"US\" and Infantry \"HQ\" Collar Discs remain firmly in place but do show light age and wear. They overall remain in Good to Very Good Condition. This tunic displays very well when positioned as worn and in our opinion, none of the mothing detracts from its solid, all original appearance. The LINER shows minor age, wear and use but remains in overall Good to Very Good Condition. Ornately handwritten to the interior right chest area is the original owner\'s last name which appears as \"McLURE.\" The Original Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot Tag remains firmly stitched to the rear of the liner and gives the maker as \"BERNHEIM\" with an Early contract date of 21 JUNE 1917. By My Measurements the Tunic is a Size 36 Long. The MEASUREMENTS Are: Chest = 18 Inches From Armpit to Armpit When Buttoned and Laying Flat; Sleeves = 25 Inches From Top Shoulder Seam to Cuff; Back = 16 Inches From Shoulder Seam to Shoulder Seam Measured Across the Upper Back, Just Below the Collar. Overall this is a Solid and Good Looking Tunic. As stated, this is a very nice, eye catching and impressive tunic. The very good condition 33rd Patch, Large Sergeant\'s Chevrons, and excellent color throughout make this a unique and attractive piece that could appeal to collectors of various levels. The 33rd was a hard fighting unit and items from this historic division are actively sought after by many collectors and reenactors.
