Mohawk Aircraft

The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk was an armed military observationand attack aircraft, designed for battlefield surveillance and light strikecapabilities. It was a twin turboprop configuration, and carried two crewmembers in side-by-side seating.

The Mohawk was intended to operate from short, unimprovedrunways in support of United States Army Special Forces.

The OV-1 saw combat with the U.S. Army in the Vietnam Warwith 65 lost to operational accidents, antiaircraft fire, ground fire and oneshot down by a North Vietnamese fighter.
