Emil Rittershausen, Berlin. Extraordinary developer of a superb musical instrument, which has spanned the decades, and continues to be an amazing example of German engineering!
Emil Rittershausen was a masterinstrumentmaker, trained by Theobald Boehm, of Munich. The instruments they produced can trace their lineage back to the creation of the Boehm fingering system. Emil Rittershausen also trained the 4th generation flute maker, Kurt Gemeinhardt, of the renowned Gemeinhardt instruments. Carl Fisher, of New York (1849 - 1923) started as a dealer in NY, in 1872, after immigrating from Germany. He supplied sheet music, developed musical instruments, and imported quality instruments from all over the world.
