Porsgrund of Norway Plate Barque (Bark) \"City of Agra\"
This lovely nautical plate featuring the Bark \"City of Agra manufactured by Porsgrund China of Norway.It was a gift to passengers of the Norwegian America Line.
The rim of the plate is decorated with Viking ships.
The back of the plate reads:\"Barque \"City of Agra\" 1034 tons, was built of iron in West Hartlepool, England 1860.Purchased at Porsgrunn, Norway, 1889 and operated by different Norwegian owners until she met her fate in March, 1907.On a voyage from New York to Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, the vessel went aground at S. W. Ledges, Cape Sables, N.S., and was totally wrecked.\"
