This scarce, original and highly desirable Stock Certificate was issued by the company that owned the Titanic, International Mercantile Marine, which in turn was controlled by JP Morgan (the little pinhole cancellations spell \"JPM & Co.\" if pinhole cancelled - may have punch holes instead).
Measuring an impressive 8\" x 12\", this certificate has the amount of shares (100) engraved in the corners and is a lovely putty-olive green. Titanics with engraved shares in the corners are getting harder to find, particularly the kind offered here, which is the HIGHEST ENGRAVED AMOUNT EXTANT (100 Shares) and is a PREFERED STOCK!The condition remains clean and crisp with the lightest of folds and very little wear.
Beautifullyengraved in 1902 as per the fancy text (10 years before the sinking!)using the ancient intaglio technique by the esteemed American Bank Note Co. (premier printer of American currency!), this steel-etched certificate is in great condition in spite of beingover 110 years old.The stock was actually issued in 1917, the year the U.S. entered WW1!!! This is the earliest issue date available for less than $500!!

This is the earliest type that has TWO vignettes including the classic 4-stack ocean liner surrounded by tugboats. The second vignette (steel etched illustration) depicts a beautiful reclining woman with sextant and anchor before a ship being loaded at the dock in the background. Exceptional detail with an ornate border and bold title - in short, an art deco masterpiece.
