Rare Old American Violin with Very Impressive Solo Concert Tone:
$2500.00

Here is a rare and beautiful American violin made by Samuel Jansen Miller in 1923. It\'s in good condition with no bass bar or soundpost repairs. The violin has a unique appearance due to the fact Miller used wood from old colonial furniture and buildings. I wouldnt be surprised if the woods are hundreds of years old in this violin.

The sound of this violin is very impressive and surprising! It is powerful and a true concert instrument. It has an impressive rich complex tone throughout with enveloping low end and a glowing brightness and brilliance at the top. Good balance throughout and great palette of tonal colors! It has no trouble carrying above and orchestra and a real delight to play!

There is writing on the neck end-block: S.J.M No. 106. There is also writing on the left rib above the label which is hard to make out, but I think is the same wording of the label. The violin was appraised for 3k in 1981.

This violin is for someone looking for a unique and well-made violin with a great tone! This instrument easily competes with other violins in much higher price ranges and will not disappoint! I would keep it for my own music, but have too many instruments right now. This violin was previously owned and used by a famous country music fiddler who obtained it from the estate of Samuel Jansen Miller. It has the rich quality, evenness, and projection for both classical as well as fiddle music. Very rare American violin by a noted maker.
