This is a stunning antique French, Art Nouveau pewtercentrepiece, from the foundry Siot Decauville of Paris and has been signed byLéon Kann (1859-1925).

Léon Kann originates from Dambach-la-Ville, in the Alsaceregion of France, where he was born in 1859.He studied sculpture with Aimé Millet and Pierre Louis Rouillard. He was a designer at Sévres Porcelain from1896 to 1915. It was here that he embraced the Art Nouveau style that istranslated into this piece for Siot Decauville of Paris.

The centrepiece is shaped as two trays in the form of leafs with, which are joined in the middle by a vaserising from the centre section. Thedesign is full of delicious Art Nouveau detail, please see the photographs fora visual description.

The base is marked with the Siot Decauville Paris mark andhas the model number 0629. The Siot Decauville was founded by Edmond-GustaveSiot (1841-1908) and his wife Elise Decauville in 1865. This item will date to the late 1800’s or very early 1900\'s.

The pewter is in excellent condition but it does have one ortwo marks on the surface, rather like bits of wet plaster have dropped onto itand dried there. I have not polished theitem, I have only wiped off the surface dust.

It measures 18¾” long and the widest part is 6”. The central vase stands 6¾” tall and theweight of the item is: 3.210 kgs. Due tothe items heavy weight it must be sent via Colissimo International and there isno cheaper alternative available.
