THE MAIN BODY OF THE ETUI IS MADE OF GILT BRONZE , IN THE SHAPE OF AN EGG WITH A LOVELY CHANNEL DESIGN , AND VERY PRETTY REEDED CROSS RIBBON DESIGN ON THE TOP AND BOTTOM HINGED EDGE . THE EXTERIOR HAS A LOVELY OLD PATINA COMMENSURATE WITH NORMAL AGE AND USE . SOME OF THE GOLD LEAFING IS WORN AWAY IN AREAS AND ALSO HAS SOME CLOUDING , MOST LIKELY FROM YEARS OF CLEANING AND POLISHING .
