Up for the offering is fabulous, RARE Cast Iron Figural Pig Cigar Cutter.
Made of Cast Iron with a copper plate / finish (or partial copper finish - barrel slates etc.)
The copper finish is darkened here and there - might have be coppered all over but the parts (ie barrel slats) that were polish before the finish was put on show more coppery.I have seen, just the PIG Cutter, a couple of times (a RARE piece on it\'s own); but, I have only seen it on a base once before with a base (and that was an advertising piece),
Never seen another one like this.
The base is approx 6 3/8\" base 6\" and 3 34/\" at it\'s tallest.
The pig figure is appox 7 1/2\" long (from his snout to the end of his curly cue tail.An interesting figural Cigar Cutter to say the least.
One sticks the end of the cigar in the pigs butt; the you pull down on the tail and the tip of the cigar gets cut off.
The pig is mount to a base - on that base are 2 barrels. The larger one for cigars and the smaller one for matches.
On the front edge, just below the small barrel, there are some ridges in the casting - that is the match strike.
So, you get a cigar cutter, cigar holder and a match holder (plus strike) all in one piece.In very good condition with no breaks or cracks.
Made of Cast Iron, It appears to have a copper plate finish (or at least parts / barrel slats etc.).
That finish is darkened and not consistent.
Some light surface rust spots here and there.
See pics.Will make a fabulous addition to one\'s collection or look great on it\'s own.Do not miss out - it might be a long time before you see another one just like this - maybe never.
