Rare Houghton folding reflex vintage camera c.1909 with Goerz non brass lens.

by Houghton Ltd. High Holborn London WC. Introduced in 1909 when Houghton announced it had advance orders. It was not advertised in 1910 BJA but was in 1912 and 1913. In 1914 it was replaced by an entirely different design: the \"Model D\" so it seems likely that production was probably limited.

Fitted with a quarter plate Houghton patent envelope adapter for cut film incorporating a focussing screen

The lens is an aluminium mounted Goerz Celor Double Anastigmat Series 1B 150mm f4.8 with helical focussing and smooth iris diaphragm to f64.

The focal plane shutter is marked 1/10 to 1/1000 sec. and bulb with a separate time setting.

Cosmetically the camera is excellent as shown in the photos. The reflex mirror surface is tarnished and the image dim. The shutter is complete and operates but is slow and erratic from lack of use. This may improve with exercise.

The German Goerz Celor Double Anastigmat lens is highly collectible and is clean with no visible scratches.
