This is a Schilke MII trumpet. I got it in high school and played it all the way through my bachelors at North Texas State and through my masters at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
While I was at North Texas, I sent it to the Schilke factory and had them retrofit it to have a tuning bell so that I could attach a copper beryllium bell to it. After I had the modification done, I couldn\'t believe how much better the horn played (with the original bell!). Detaching the bell at the original solder joints and only having it attach with the slider made it so much more responsive.
I continued to use it with the original bell for jazz and big band work, but switched to the beryllium for classical and orchestra work. I love how the beryllium bell responds to the softest volume levels.
When the MII\'s were originally made, they made only 2 with the tunable bell. This horn modified behaves like those 2 originals.
I have included pictures of all the areas of the horn that have wear from my hands. This is a used horn, but still plays with a great response and just like when I bought it so many years ago.
I have also included pictures of the valves, which you can see are in great shape. I have always taken very good care of the horn cleaning it regularly myself and frequently getting it professionally cleaned. - Before this sale, I had the horn professionally cleaned and polished. All the slides work perfectly and move smoothly.
This horn has a ML bore (.460) and ML bell.
I am including the original case which has seen lots of travel, but still closes and works perfectly.

The beryllium bells are very rare and by themselves garner much attention from the trumpet world. If you have a tunable Schilke trumpet, this bell will fit on it just like my horn. You could sell the original horn with the original bell and keep the copper beryllium for yourself!
