Schwinn Stingray Fastback 5 Speed Stick, Campus Green - Original 1972 Condition:
$637.00

There are a lot of Stingrays out there, but very few are original Chicago Schwinn, that are not beat up too bad. There are even some reproductions made overseas issued over the years. The 5 speed stick shift is original equipment you will not find on the reproductions. I think Ralph Nader actually made a stink about the safety of the stick, and Schwinn was eventually forced to stop making it. This bike is all original, except the tires are brand new \"Classic\", Schwinn Approved Fastback correct. The front tire has the letters \"Schwinn Stingray\" on the sidewall, and the rear tire has the letters \" Schwinn Fastback Slick\" on the sidewall, identical to the original tires, except they are freshly made in Taiwan (\"Made in Taiwan\" does not show once the tire is mounted). There is also new tubes that hold air, so this bike will come ready to ride. This bike was made 45 years ago in Chicago, and in great condition for it\'s age. It looks like it was used for a couple of years, then left in a garage! It has been in my personal collection for about 20 years now, but I\'ve enjoyed it for so many years, why not let someone else get as much joy out of it as I have. I had one as a kid, but alas, it was stolen! There are scratches and nicks in the paint and chrome, and dings in the fenders. There is some minor pitting in the chrome in some areas, most notable the rims, and fenders. There is the original New Hope, MN bicycle license sticker. The seat is in great shape except for a few small cracks in the vinyl. I polished the chrome for the photos and it really came to life! Everything works mechanically, all 5 speeds, breaks, pedals, etc. The rims are true except for a slight wobble. The bearings in the wheels, crank, headset are all tight and rideable. I suppose it could use new cables and break pads, for optimum performance, but did I mention you can ride it when it arrives? I rode it on special occasions and it is super fun...wheelies anyone?I will professionally pack this up for shipment via Bikeflights.com or UPS, and you will need to re-attach the pedals, handlebars and wheels which are all possible with a medium crescent wrench. Shipping price includes professional packing and insurance. The bike is suitable to be displayed, ridden or both! The bike is sold as is, so look closely at the photos and ask questions before you offer.
