Original Lionel Passenger Train Outfit #340.Made in 1924 only and is the last of the early period (1906 - 1924) Lionel Standard Gauge train production.It comprises a #50 Super-Motor New York Central type locomotive with the #32 baggage car, #31 combination baggage car, #35 pullman and a #36 observation.The #50 locomotive is gray and is an upgraded version of the old #38 loco having thenew 1924 super-motor, latch couplers and 2 headlights.The passenger cars are olive green. They have pick up shoes for interior illumination.All the maroon doors open and close easily.
Overall condition of the set is clean and excellent with some minor nicks and scratches.Please examine the many photos carefully as they are part of the description.It\'s 100% original; not a repaint.The loco has been bench-tested and runs in both directions.Note the old flake spots on the roof. A common problem with gray painted locos.The rest of the paint on this one looks solid and there should be no more flaking.You may touch up these spots if you wish.The gold rubber stamped lettering is clear and distinct as shown.
The set is out of my 45 year collection.
The loco commonly came in 3- car passenger sets; the olive green #32 baggage is a car that I added to complete the series.
