vintage cast iron and steel Cargo Winch-made by the Northwest Steel Casting Co. of Bellingham, Washington circa 1920s-\'40s period-this was possibly originally a \'light\' duty, hand winch for onboard ship to operate a cargo derrick--seems to be like an old Tow Truck winch as well--pretty heavy: winch alone is 60 pounds/cable 25 pounds -- includes Pulley Line Guide and u-bolt fastener -- 12 in. geared sprocket with app. 54-56 teeth/power gear had 9 teeth for about a 1:6 power ratio I believe, on 1 1/4\" shaft -- cable is getting pretty worn and needs replacing if serious lifting is contemplated-otherwise it is 3/8\" braided steel cable about 60 feet long --

--some wear:--overall rust-no crank handle-it is welded to the frame- brake or whatever the hinged lever thing is, is broken off-cable is a bit ragged (watch your hands!)--otherwise seems to work ok coming and going--
