Very clean inside and out!

This wonderful preamp is a Sony statement piece from the late 70\'s and is definitely a top notch performer. Incredible details with impeccable sound. This unit provides accurate authority over the source which presents an awesome sound stage.  A low filter is available to fine tune the bottom end of the phono input.  All functions and inputs work perfectly.  Phono, Aux and Tuner Inputs sound lovely as well as the tape loop. Dual amplifier outputs and numerous phono settings to accommodate most all turntable setups.  This unit is such an awesome performer!

This TA-E86B has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out as well as the internal controls have been professionally cleaned and properly lubricated to ensure excellent performance. All pots have been professionally cleaned and lubricated as well. All capacitors, transistors and resistors have been verified to be in spec and definitely replaced as needed. We use a stricter 5% tolerance when checking parts to ensure a long future for your \"new\" vintage purchase. Most specifications allow for a +- 20% discrepancy and we use +- 5%. All solder joints have been checked under magnification for cold joints and reflowed where necessary.

We use Nichicon High Temp Electrolytic Capacitors (UPW, UKL, etc.), Nichicon Muse Capacitors, Elna Silmic II Capacitors and Panasonic Electrolytic and Film Capacitors as well as Zetex, OnSemi and Fairchild semiconductors and Xicon 1% metal film resistors when needed. Most consider these the best choices for vintage restorations and we always upgrade the voltage minimums and heat specifications when appropriate to provide even longer service than the originals. This unit is ready to go!  This unit came in working great, but we thoroughly go through the unit to ensure its longevity.

All knobs, switches, chassis, faceplate and case were detailed, deep polished and ultrasonically cleaned where appropriate.  This cleaning process alone takes 3-4 hours with the complete dismantling of the unit. The power light was serviced while the unit was restored.

All service manual calibrations have been performed throughout the unit. Crystal clear performance which provides nice control over the output at all levels.

All inputs work as they should. This unit has an excellent phono stage that shows wonderful depth and clarity with authoritative control over the soundstage.  Multiple setting to accommodate most cartridges.  The auxiliary, tuner and tape inputs sound wonderful as well.

This unit comes ready to enjoy in excellent cosmetic condition with very minimal wear and tear for a unit this age as shown in the pictures. The engraved faceplate is stunning!  This unit was not abused by the original owner and was used in a residential, smoke-free environment. As stated, the voltage is currently set to 120V for the USA.  If you would like us to set it to another voltage prior to shipment, please message us to let us know at the time of purchase.
