Stonehouse-Beautifully colored Hubbard Basin petrified woodend cut HB30:
$45.00

This specimen measures7x 6 1/2 x 1/16-3/4, is25 sq.in.and weighs1 lb. 1.7oz. The colors are blue, red, and white. This piece is very translucent, with the exterior skin being visible in places. The grain is visible as well although not as plainly as in many other specimens due to the clarity in the piece.

The Hubbard Basin area is located southwest of Jackpot, Nevada and has been popular for many years. My family had been digging in this location for many years until some folks went in there with backhoes, some legally, some not. The main digging area is small and was destroyed. While there are a couple of smaller areas that show promise, the digging will be hard and deep. Of course, it has been difficult for a long time anyway, at least from my experience. However, if you are fortunate the rewards can be awesome.

Any Hubbard Basin that you see from me has been collected by my family in the 40 plus years that we went to this location. Upon my fathers passing I inherited all that he had which increased the amount that I now have. You will have joy in displaying these specimens in your own collection.
As with many agates the process of petrificationcombined with ground movement and pressure can cause deformities such as fractures and in the case of the wood from Hubbard Basin, the squashing of the wood before it becomes solid. Please look closely and contact me with questions before buying or offerding.I can combine items to reduce shipping costs and will pass those savings on to the buyer. Just let me know when you purchase an item that you would like me to holdthe item and I will do so for 7 days.NOTE: It is illegal to sell petrified wood collected from public lands. Most of the petrified wood that I have is either inherited or purchased but I do have some that was collected from public lands. Do to this you are only paying for the time, expenses, and craftsmanship that went into creating this specimen.Good luck and thank you for looking.
