Stunning nickel-plated, 4-burner, 2 oven restored gas/electric 1905 stove.:
$1000.00

Small, airy, beautifully detailed antique stoves are an incredible rarity. This lovely, vintage, Estate Stove Company four gas burner, two electric oven stove will give almost any kitchen an extraordinary sense of atmosphere and beauty. Even the knobs are a shimmering white porcelain.
The stove was originally built around 1905 by The Estate Stove Company of Cleveland, OH. You can see the wonderful letterhead in the listing. It was totally reconstructed in 2000 by famed restorer David Erickson (link here). In that restoration, Erickson gave the stove the best of both worlds. He left the burners with the potent, strong energy of gas heat, and converted the ovens to the smooth, efficient cooking power of electricity.
My now 91-year-old mother-in-law purchased the stove for her small New York co-op apartment in 2000. About five years ago, she moved to a more convenient rental, and the stove didn\'t fit, so she asked us to sell it. She loves to cook, and says the ovens made wonderful bread and pies.
The stove has since been taken apart, cleaned and refurbished. This has included:
- Repainting the cast-iron frame and sides.- Having the formerly painted facing plates on the ovens porcelained.- Cleaning away all oven grease and dirt.- Carefully cleaning and polishing all nickel-plated elements.- Reinforcing the connectors between the stove and oven frames.- Polishing and installing period appropriate screws and fasteners where ever possible.- Using stove polish rather than paint on all surfaces exposed to flame, including the burners and grills.
Notes:* This stove has four burners but five knobs. That is because the back right burner has two gas feeds, in the same way most high-end modern stoves have a high-heat burner. You can see that in the outlined picture.* The unit consists of two basic segments, the bottom stove and the top ovens. The bottom portion weighs about 125 pounds, the top more than 150, for a total of about 275 pounds.* The ovens on this stove use 220 volt electricity. You will need a 220-volt plug. A photo of the stove\'s plug is included.* You will need a licensed, professional plumber to connect this stove to the gas line.* This is an antique stove. It has no pilot lights. My mother-in-law used a chef\'s torch. Match holders used to be common kitchen appliances. We\'d provide one, but the variety available is such that we suggest you search \"match holder\" for one that perfectly fits your taste. Please remember to light your burners when you turn them on. The consequences of not doing so can be spectacular.* Dave Erickson has very kindly said he is willing to endorse this stove and answer questions about it. His contact information is here, * This stove is being sold in as-is condition.* The Estate Stove Company had a long and fascinating history. Click here for some further information:. Whirlpool bought the brand in 1955 and still makes appliances under the label.* For a cool collection of Estate Stove Company recipesfrom 1929, click here.
