Estate found, Swedish Army Lunch Box Stove Mess Kit with 1968 manufacturing date code. The 5 piece mess kit is all genuine Swedish Army surplus** including the burner, the windscreen, plastic alcohol holder bottle and burner are marked with the Swedish three crown national emblem. The bottle is also marked “Mellerud” / “68-01” and the metal parts have “NC 68” and SVEA (logo) in addition to the three crown device.This item is known to have been used for backpack camping in the Rockies in the 1990\'s, and may have seen Cold War service or duty on a Swedish Military peacekeeping operations in the 70\'s or 1980\'s...The kit includes a combination aluminum windscreen stand, 2 stainless steel piece (pot & combo cup lid w/ handle) , an alcohol burner and a fuel bottle. The burner and bottle fit into the pot with room for a package or two offreeze-driedfood, this then fits into the black windscreen stand making for a tidy bundle.Set up is very simple and quick to get cooking. Retrieve the burner from inside the mess tin, unscrew the lid and pour in some fuel. Place it on solid ground and light it. Then place the windscreen stand over it. The hole in the bottom of the housing (under the wire standoffs) should just clear. Put what you want to cook inside the pot or pan and slide it down onto the holder above the burner. The metal bars should be above the burner, with the burner siting underneath. Inside the holder, there are two rods which when folded up provide a stand for the pot such that it will have the right standoff from the flame. This make for a basically light, safe, very effective and indestructible piece of camping / backpacking gear.**NOT modern Swedish style light weight aluminum mess kit by Mil-Tec.
Condition: Used fine. Some finish wear and light discoloration from use. Minor scrapes and patina in keeping with age but no obvious abuse, dings or but significant ding, dents or other flaws. Test the O-ring for integrity before storing fuel in the burner. Always allow to cool to the touch before recapping.
