TMC Technical Materiel Corp GPR-90 Receiver, Fully Tested & Operational, Nice:
$625.00

Note: Due to a technicalissue with the shipping calculator being unable to calculate FedEx Ground shipping charges, the previous sale for this item was cancelled on Aug. 16th, and itis now being relisted.

Hereis one (1) used, fully tested, andcompletely functional TMC Technical Materiel Corporation Model GPR-90Receiver, serial number 1120. The GPR-90 ranks as one of the most attractive HFgeneral coverage or communications receivers ever made, and it was designed andbuilt with the kind of robust best-of-breed quality that TMC was well knownfor.

Ihave fully checked and tested all of the functions of this receiver, and it isworking exactly as it should on all bands, with the sensitivity, stability, selectivity, and ease of operation the GPR-90 is noted for. The dial calibration andtracking are as good as on any GPR-90 I have ever used. There are no noisyswitches or controls, and the band-switch action is very positive and firm. Thisreceiver is a true “plug-and-play” example; unlike most of the GPR-90s I haveseen, it will not require any work or service in order for it be in perfectoperating order. There are no electrical or other performance issues.

ThisGPR-90 is in nice cosmetic condition, with a practically perfect front panelthat is virtually free ofany scratches or other imperfections, and the painton the front panel and dial bezel/escutcheon still have the original gloss asdelivered from the factory. The silk-screened lettering on the front panel isstill bright and crisp with no wear, as are the white index lines on the knobs. The only significant front panel imperfections are two scratches on the lowerright edge of the bezel/escutcheon by the band-spread dial (see photo).

Unlikenearly all GPR-90s that I have seen over the years, the paint around the fourthru-holes for securing the receiver within the cabinet have very little “rackrash” or other scarring of the front panel, as the TMC-fitted nylonwashers are still in place under the screw heads.

Thetop surface of the chassis (and components mounted on it) could use alittle cleaning/detailing if you so desire, to remove the accumulated surface dust anddirt.

Thecosmetic condition of the cabinet is probably the weak point with this receiver. The cabinet is straight with no dents or dings, but it does show some minorabrasions from normal wear and tear after nearly 60 years of ownership, andthere are some rust stains in several places on the cabinet. These stains canpossibly be scrubbed out of the wrinkled finish, but I’ll let you attend tothis.

Theprevious owner, a retired aerospace electrical engineer, did replace the original 2-prong ungrounded AC line cord with a heavy-dutyremovable IEC-type grounded line cord for user safety; this line cord isincluded with the receiver. It also appears that provision was made for some kind of an outboardRF accessory (such as Q-multiplier or similar device); note the installation ofthe RCA phono jack in the circular user accessory opening on the rear apron of thechassis. This phono jack connects through a section of RG-58 coax to inductorL20; this modification could be very easily removed if desired, and itspresence has no impact to the performance of the receiver.

In summary, hereis a true plug-and-play GPR-90 with no electrical or performance issues, thatcould possibly use a little help in terms of the cosmetic condition of the cabinet.

Theoperating and service manual for the GPR-90 is not included with this receiver; it is available from numerouslocations on the Internet.

Thereis a very reasonable reserve for this sale.

Aswith all electronic equipment of this vintage, this receiver is sold as-is andwith no warranty. Please look at the accompanying photos carefully; what yousee is what you will receive, and please feel free to e-mail me with any questions youmay have!

GPR-90s are not light-weight receivers. The packed weight of this receiveris 70 pounds, so please understand that shipping to your location will not be cheap, and I have no control over the price that UPS Ground or FEDEX Ground charges for the shipment of large and heavy packages. It will be carefully packed in a new/unused oversized double-wall25” L x 25” W x 22”H shipping box, with multiple thicknesses of brand-new OwensCorning 1-inch and 1-1/2-inch heavy-duty foam board to provide maximumprotection in shipment. Shipping is always quoted at the actual cost; I never make aprofit on shipping. A handling charge of $25.00 to partially cover my cost forthe purchase of a new box and the packing materialis included within the shipping charge, and I will include the receipts for these items with the receiver, for your verification of these costs.

Here is an importantnote about the shipping costs is quoting for this item: The shipping calculator is notoriously inaccurate when UPS Ground is the chosen carrier, and their calculator is currently not working for FEDEX Ground shipments. The calculator can quote a shipping price that is as much as 40% too high, or 40% too low. Before you place your offer, please contact me in advance to obtain an accurate quote for shipping to your location via UPS Ground or FEDEX Ground Service(FEDEX Ground is usually less costly than UPS Ground). If you are the successful buyer, this is the price you will see on your invoice for payment, and that is what you will pay for shipping, plus the $25.00 handling fee I have defined above. I do not want to make any profit on the shipping costs, nor do I want to lose money on shipping either, due to the gross inaccuracies of the shipping calculator. I want both of us (me as the seller, and you as the buyer) to be happy with this transaction.

You can also verify the actual shipping cost yourself by going to either UPS.com or fedex.com, and entering the dimensions of the shipping box and the weight provided above for shipment via ground-based service from zip code 11725.

I will also absorb the cost of shipping insurance at the high offer price; the buyer does not pay for insurance.

Please be sure to see the many buyer positive response comments I havereceived as a seller here on e-Bay. offer with complete confidence, as I have100% perfect positive response, and I have been a member of e-Bay since 1999!

Here are my terms and conditions for this sale and sale. Pleaseread carefully!
