Tokarev SVT/AVT40 stock and handguard set. AVT40 was an advanced Tokarev model, which translates into the safety cut-out going all the way across, instead of just to one side. The operator would switch the safety all the way to the other side to choose fire modes. It is a much rarer model than the standard semi-auto SVT40, although a standard SVT40 will fit right in this stock. A quick glance reveals several stamps and markings, including a large \'A\', Star with # underneath, a couple of cyrillic symbols in circles, two different # designations and a few faded out additional circle and diamond stamps. There are also stamps on top and bottom of the wrist, including \'H\' on bottom. The stock has had one external and one internal repair as far as I can see. On the right side up by the muzzle end a fine repair patch was executed, see photos. The inside repair is a glass bed fill-in in front of where the recoil lug is located. It is not as finely executed as the external repair, although it appears to be adequate. I do not have an SVT action to check this stock bedding job with, but it appears to be finished to it\'s final form. The work was done with the recoil lug in place, but it is has been removed. The stock is stripped of all metal save the recoil lug bushings. A good solid serviceable stock without cracks and only one tiny gouge on left side of grip (looks like from another rifle\'s front sight) that could be made to go away rather easily. Other than that, just honest wear, handling dings, age. Handguard appears unmarked, with one unaddressed crack in the tip, see photo. It has two reinforcing screws in just the right places, and the front one stopped this crack dead. A little clear epoxy bedding material will make this disappear, no problem.
