*Up foroffer/sale here is a very nice TOKYO HY-POWER HL-45B QRP AMPLIFIER (made in JAPAN). Covers 6Mthough 160M bands. This may be interfaced directly with the Yaesu FT-817ND,with the included data cables. It also works just fine with any other QRP rig.5W input gets you 45W output, with a MAX output of 60W PEP. The user manualwarns you not to drive it with more than 5W PEP and earlier models have blown finals from exceeding 5W. This oneis a LATER SERIAL NUMBER amp and I have driven it with 10or 12 Wattswith no ill effects whatsoever.
Ibought this as NEW/old stock a few months ago for $500 and used it veryminimally in my tractor trailer. I drove it with 2 different QRP transceivers;an MFJ-9420X and a generic FX-9A. It worked very well for both applications,but I have built myself a more compact amp, although not nearly as nice lookingor coolrunning as this one. This has to be one of the nicest QRP amps ever made. Withthe excellent band pass filtering, it’s no wonder these amps sold for about$549 new! This one is cosmetically a 9/10, with perhaps some very tinyscratches on the heat sink. The face looks great. This QRP amp Includes the originalbox, manual, warranty card, cables for DC power, ALC and FT-817 interface.
PLEASENOTE that the manual does specify making a slight adjustment to an internaltrimpot (variable resistor) to match this amp to your transceiver. Just removethe bottom cover and the trimpot is marked with BLUE SHARPIE for quick and easyidentification. DO NOT TOUCH ANY OTHER ADJUSTMENTS INSIDE THIS AMP!!! Simplyset your transceiver RF output as close to 5W as possible (preferably a tad bitlower than 5W) and adjust the trimpot until you see all 5 output LED’s lightingup…very simple!
