Very decorative English driving or dressage(?)bit marked EGLENTINE and ENGLAND on cheeks with SWALES PATENT on rings and right side of mouthpiece front andPAT 18657 on left side of mouthpiece front. Beautiful curly designs where headstall attaches! Rarer design! Makes a great wall hanger or addition to your bit collection. Has some greenish-silver patina possibly monel steel(?)and wear expected with age. There IS some damage might need repair before use shown in photos andI like to thinkhas a story behind it of a tied by rein horse pulling awayand runaway carriage result! :) As shown, there is a bent right rein ring with crack 3/4 way around, a slightly bent left shank and rein ring, and some wear to letters and numbers as all shown in photos. Bit COULD be used as-isbut not too ideal;I\'d suggest repairing first for comfort of horse and proper balance. Note the pictures on table were taken in daylight but on a reddish background which may make finish look different color-it is a silvery yellow tone of nickle base best shown in close ups.
