UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MINES, 5\" BUD VASE, PACHL ERA: $60.00
Here\'s a funny, almost funnel shaped bud base (possibly a saki serving bottle) from the Pachl era as director of the CERAMICS DEPARTMENT at the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA SCHOOL OF MINES (\'50\'s -1970). This piece is 5\" tall with abase 2-1/2\" wide. It is a hand thrown piece that conics smoothly up to about mid-height of the vase and then sharply narrows to asmall top opening. The glaze color is agreenish gray color with spiraled grooves the full height of thevase. The are numerous full length runs of glaze which show a slightly different color. The piece is factory mint, (or school mint) but doeshave a couple flaws in the making. The top rim has a glazed over chip visible in photo 2. It also appears that part of the base peeled away at some stage (while it waswet)leaving asharp base edgeover about a 3/4\" arc. The black UND,GRAND FORKS NDmark was applied after the peeling. Also it appears thatthe small part of the original base surface remaining had some incised numbers implying thatthis may have also been a trial piece. Prior to offerding, please read the information onpayment, return policy andon international shipping. Thanks.
