Up for offer is an original civil war era British pattern 1853 .577 caliber socket bayonet. These were imported and widely used by both sides during the American civil war. Bayonet measures 20.25 inches in total length with a 17 inch blade. The vintage bayonet exhibits some period wear and has some oxidation, staining, and scattered light pitting with original finish showing through in areas. Bayonet is being sold uncleaned and as found and would probably clean up quite a bit if desired by new owner.
