Very nice Model 1909 bolo manufactured at the Springfield Armory in 1910. This is #10824 of 17,540 made there between 1909 and 1915. Plumb made over 58,000, of lesser quality, in 1917 under contract. The unsharpened blade has a few small indentations on the edge and a good pointed tip. Marked U.S. over 10824 and S.A. over a flaming bomb over 1910. No pits on the steel. The walnut grips have some cracks and gouges but everything is tight and complete including the brass grip cap or pommel. See photos for details.
