Old Kraftsman Archtop Guitar

This is a beautiful old archtop hollowbody guitar built by Kay in Chicago during the 1950\'s. It has a Spruce top with Maple back and sides. The Maple in the back even has some light \"birds-eye\" figuring in the grain. The tuners are Kluson Deluxe and probably worth as much as the guitar. They still function fine with one of them being bent but still working.

It has a nice chunky D shape neck with a nice Rosewood fretboard. The first three frets were replaced at some point and they are all in good shape and playable. An identifying number has been engraved in the tailpiece but is faint. The nut and bridge are not original but quite playable. The original pickguard is about 80% there and still functions fine.

The lower bout is 15.5\" wide and the body is 20\" long and 3.75\" wide at the edge. The scale length is 25.5\" with a nut width of 1-5/8\". This would be a cool piece to add to your collection and a great old guitar to play. Make it yours today!

Every guitar we sell is completely set up by us to be gig-ready. That means we do the following:
  • Remove the old strings.
  • Clean and lemon oil (for rosewood and maple necks) the fretboard, and polish the frets.
  • Clean and polish all hardware.
  • Clean and polish (3 step process) the body.
  • Put on a brand new set of strings.
  • Set up the bridge and neck for perfect intonation, and a low/fast action with no fret buzz. This makes the guitar easy to play and ensures it stays in tune up and down the neck. Backstage Guitar Gallery accepts the following forms of payment:
