Ok....I do not know anything about these and information was very scarce to come by so I will do my best to describe and please see all the photos for more details and consider them a part of the description. The last photo is of a 1953 add in the Soaring Society of America for the VHF Avigator Jr that you see here. Cosmetically it is used and has some scrapes and scuffs but not bad in my opinion. Not really seeing any dings or dents or cracks in the metal. The face plate is marked with several items, a Mic. jack, a headphone jack. There is also a tuning knob for the VHF. There are two indicators on the front face, both have plastic bubble covers. One is the VHF information and when you turn the tuning knob the hand does move on the face. There are two set screws that hold the large gray knob end on and they need adjusting from time to time. The normal model, as shown in the add is the model AT-91-47 but if you read the article, the model AT-91-47 (0) included the omni power supply and built in omni indicator which this unit has...it has the indicator, not sure about the power supply if that was inside this unit or a separate piece so not sure if that power unit is included. I did take pictures of the inside so maybe you can tell....no idea on my end :) The volume knob appears to move as it was meant to but is missing the knob. there is a smaller knob in the upper left hand corner...not sure what it is for but it does turn, and again, there is a set screw that may need adjusting from time to time. There is a light in the center, there is a lamp in it but since I do not know how to use or power this unit, not sure if it is any good or needs a new bulb. On the back is a label with serial number 9038 (I think, the first number is partially missing) and model AT-91-47. Input is 12v; 4 Amps DC and weighs 10 pounds (as per the tag) 8 tubes from Omni range use 1x030 power supply.....and other information. There is the original schematic and tube information on the inside as you can see in the pictures. According to the add, this was billed as the complete communications system! Light weight compact 2-way radio. States that this is the kind of communications set you\'ve often wished for. the Avigator gives you a choice of 6 transmitting channels, has tunable, static free, VHF receiver. It\'s light weight, about 20 pounds, installed, makes it ideal for sail planes. The Avigator Jr.. has proved entirely satisfactory in both sail plane and car. It will operate for 1 1/2 hours on a Willard 6V / AH battery.......According to the add. The regular model was billed at $307.21 and this model that you are offerding on was priced at $432.21.....in 1953....in todays monetary rate, that translates to $3,832.20!!!! This model was advertised for Power Pilots!! This unit is untested as I have no clue how to use or power it so it is being sold as is. Weighs in at 11 pounds without packing, if shipping is cheaper than we charge, we do refund anything over shipping fees.
