Vintage 1965 Kay 5113 Plains Special Acoustic Guitar Harmony Solid Top Restored:
$329.95

Vintage Kay 5113 \"Plains\" Special Auditorium Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, made in Chicago in 1965This beauty features an Auditorium sized body with a solid white spruce top and mahogany back and sides, black, white and tortoiseshell binding at top and sound hole with tortoiseshell binding on back, working adjustable truss rod with mid 60s style Kelvinator headstock emblem and original truss rod cover. This is the solid spruce top version of the laminated mahogany Kay 5110. It has a 15\" wide lower bout, 10-3/4\" upper bout, 1-5/8\" nut width and a 25-3/4\" scale length. The 5113 has Kay\'s Thin-Lite neck profile, which is much less clubby and easier to play than the mahogany 5110. It has a tortoiseshell tear drop pickguard with the logo partially worn off, big white celluloid dot fret markers on beautiful rosewood fingerboard, period correct tuners and original nut. It has a new compensated bone saddle on a very nice non-original rosewood bridge with some marks around the bridge. It has received a neck reset and a light fret dressing for great playability with action set about 3/32\" @ 12th fret with new D\'Addario 80/20 12-53 brass strings. It has surprisingly great tone with an enormous amount of projection. The natural finish on the spruce top and shaded mahogany finish on the sides and back are original with some minor scratches and dings. There are some small scuffs around the edges and it looks like a small piece of binding was reglued on the back at the bottom. It has marks on the finish on the back of the neck and side of headstock and a line on the side shoulder that looks like a small crease in the wood. There is a tiny gap at the back of the bridge that doesn\'t pose a problem. The neck is nice and straight with very little relief and has the common downturn at body after neck reset. New brass screws were added to install the tuners and a couple of the gears and screws aren\'t original and there\'s one tiny brad missing from the tin headstock emblem. These are very fun inexpensive guitars with loads of character and great tone. The neck is great and it\'s easy to play with new 12s.I have some cases available and others listed, just ask.
