Up for sale is a 1970 Schwinn Paramount P-13 race bike in size 57cm. The serial number stamped on the rear non-drive side drop out is F7008, denoting 1970 as the year of production. The components appear to all be original or period correct. The rear derailleur is in pristine condition and stamped Patent 70 denoting 1970. The Campagnolo crank arms are 170 Strada with no date stamp also donating they are period correct. The high flange hubs are believed to be original, but relaced to clincher rims. The front derailleur and pedals are also the correct generation. See the full components list below for specifics. The bike was bought new in 1970 and owned by a University of California professor who mostly rode it to class and on weekends. There is a serial number etched under the bottom bracket so the campus police could identify it if it were ever to be stolen. Once the owner passed away, the bike was given to the man\'s best friend (also a UC professor) whom I acquired it from. The original owner was the only one to ever ride the bike. I have added new cloth bar tape, new rubber brake hoods, new freewheel and new cable housing. Aside from that, everything on the bike is how I received it. This model features the rare Prugnat lugs that Schwinn only used from 1968-1970, otherwise Nervex were the norm. If you examine the photos, you can see the Prugnat chrome lugs are in pristine condition with no pitting or flaking. The hand drawn red pinstriping around the Prugnat lugs is well preserved. In general the paint on this bike is gorgeous with the exception of a few minor scuffs and scratches, but I will let the photos speak for themselves. Included in the sale will be:
