I have a 1971 Martin D18 guitar with original case that I am considering selling.
This instrument is in players condition. There is natural wear to the finish from 46 years of being played, not sitting init\'s case in the closet.
There are a couple of finish cracks, the pick guard is peeling up slightly at the edges as is normal for this era of Martins, there are scratches, a few chips, normal player wear. Thisinstrumenthas been well maintained, has had a good life and it shows!
The structure of the body is sound (no cracks through the wood), the neck is straight and secure (does not need a neck reset), frets show wear however thereis no string buzz or dead spots. Will be strung with a fresh set of D\'Addario 12\'s.
The action is low for a Martin as I had the saddle professionally lowered years ago. I replaced the original plastic string pins with ebony string pins which also contribute to the outstanding soundboard tone.
The instruments tone quality is what you would expect from a vintage Martin D18, full and warm.
The Fishman sound hole pickup pictured will also be included in the sale.
This instrument was purchased new in 1971 from a Palo Alto, Ca. music store that is now long gone.
The instrument has never left the Bay Area. It\'s time for someone younger than I to take it into it\'s next stage of life.
Thanks for looking.
